Family farmers and extractivists from the seven Brazilian biomes will take part of the World Cup to be held in the country in 2014. A project will allow tourists who use the hotel network to have access to several products from the Brazilian socio-biodiversity.
A partnership between MMA, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and Sebrae will facilitate the commercialization of the production of farmers, indigenous and traditional peoples. From the 125 projects selected, 46 involve extractivist production and their products will be offered or sold to the tourists in the hotel network.
The initiative will serve to promote the use of some products of the country socio-biodiversity. According to the director of the Department of Extractivism at the MMA, Cláudia Calório, "the initiative preserves the nature and provides employment for people who live in the forest areas, without cutting down forests or degrading the environment."
