The city of Rio de Janeiro has chosen last Friday (09/25) the municipal delegates that will attend the 1st National Conference on Environmental Health (CNSA), scheduled to take place in December in Brasília.

The 1st CNSA has as its motto: "Health and Environment: let's take care of us!". And as its theme "Environmental Health in the city, in the countryside and in the forest: building citizenship, quality of life and sustainable territories".

The minister of Environment, Carlos Minc, emphasized that the 1st National Conference on Environmental Health can and should be a milestone. When speaking about the importance of the meetings being held throughout the country to discuss environmental health, the minister said that "the union between health and environment is something that can never be separated".

He also said that the conclusions reached in state and local meetings across the country will serve as the basis for a national deployment of environmental health policy.

Among the objectives of the 1st CNSA is to define guidelines for an integrated public policy in the field of environmental health, based on the cross-sectional activity of the various actors involved. Another goal is the promotion and expansion of health, environmental and political consciousness of the population, as well as to identify positive experiences being made locally and in a participative context.
